Ubiquitous Augmented Reality Mobile Learning System for Supporting Moon Observation

It is possible to improve a student’s understanding of the concept of lunar phases by using Observation Based Learning (OBL). The observation of lunar phases is often restricted by time, place, and weather. Furthermore, new students may lose patience over time. In this study, a smartphone based on the Android platform was used as a mobile device. Context-awareness was combined with Augmented Reality (AR) to develop a Ubiquitous Augmented Reality Mobile Learning System (UARMLS) to facilitate moon observation in a ubiquitous learning environment. An experiment using UARMLS was conducted in which ten participants engaged in moon phase observation. A follow-up questionnaire was circulated among the participants in order to collect ISS & MLB―September 24-26, 2013
